All THAC Electric Winch ratings from 1,000 kgf to 7,500 kgf can be built to meet a new guideline concept, the European Union Issued the EU Directive ATEX 2014/34/EC for hazardous environments. It applies to all electrical and mechanical equipment and protective systems. The specification is selected by taking into consideration "the probability of the occurrence of a explosion", this probability being divided into hazardous zones.

1. Explosion Proof Motor
The 3 phase AC squirrel cage induction motor rates at IP 66, 40 % ED duty cycle and F class insulation.
       Wherever the possibility of explosion exists there is a requirement. The motor meets the requirements
      of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EC Guidelines

2. Flameproof Brake
The brake meets the requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EC Guidelines, Group II 2GD category, and also
       is in compliance with the norms EN 60097-1:2004, EN 61241-0:2006 and EN 61241-0-2004.
       The motor is also qualified by a certificate No. NERIS 06 ATEX 0047/01.

3. Master Control Box
     The explosion proof enclosures are designed for use indoors or outdoors in potential hazardous
       atmosphere due to the presence of explosive or combustible gases and dusts.
       They are installed in the following zones; zone q, zone 2, zone 21 and zone 22.

4. Pendant Switch
A certified features of water-proof and dust-prevented d ATEX II 2GD pendant switch is suitable for all kind
      of industry where an explosive atmosphere may be present. The certified IP 65 water-proof and dust-prevented
      comply with the requirements of IEC 60529.The switch meets the requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EC Guidelines
5. Limit Switch
An electro-mechanical explosion proof limit switch are compliant with IEC standard consist of
       an actuator mechanically linked to a set of contacts. When an object comes into contact with the 
       actuator, the device operate the contacts to make or break an electrical connection.
       They are also available upon request.
6. Bronze coated load hook
The bronze coated load hook reduces the possibility of sparking in the event the hook strikes steel 
       or other metal objects is also available upon request.
Explosion Protection

There are extremely reliable and have a longer working periods for hazardous atmospheres in chemical and petrochemical factory, gas power plants, oil refineries, waste water treatment plants, paint shops etc.

Hazardous Zone Categories

There are two main gas groups

I – For underground workings where methane and coal dust are present

II – Gas occurs in surface industries

Potential explosive atmosphere exist where there is a risk of explosion due to mixtures of gas, vapor, dust or other flammable combination. In such areas there is a necessity to eliminate sources of ignition such as sparks, hot surfaces or static electricity which may ignite these mixtures. The chart below shows the zone classification refers to IEC 60079-10

Gas Explosion Group and Temperature Class

Flammable gases and vapors can be assigned to temperature classes based on their ignitability.
Hot surface can ignite explosive atmosphere. All electrical equipment is classified according to the maximum
surface temperature to be reached in service.
